Shared by Friends of the Panhandle Pathway
Local bicycle riders typically meet (weather permitting) on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm at the Winamac Depot. This group varies in size from week to week. All bicycle riders of varying skill levels are welcome to join the fun. Please come out, bring your bicycle.
During a recent Wednesday evening ride, nine bicycle riders from Jasper County joined the fun. These people came here to see, ride, and find more information on the Panhandle Pathway. This small group is the Jasper County Trails Club, Inc., and they are in the early stages of building a trail for their County. The weather for this particular evening was great. All had a good time, and new friends were made.
Here are some comments from the Jasper County trail visitors:
“Trails have always been about getting from one place to another. Today we are creating trails to connect people and communities.”
“How wonderful for one trail club to partner with another and share great fellowship. Connecting clubs, connecting people!!”
“Beautiful, peaceful trail.”
“In today’s world of technology, we often communicate via the web. We are losing the interpersonal connections with human beings.
“Trails offer people a great opportunity to connect and communicate in a personal way.”
“I really like the ‘Safe Routes to School’ Winamac has. We need that in Jasper County.”
“I liked the cozy small town feel starting at the park & then the trail going through the open countryside.”
“Top notch trails team. Had fun & learned a lot– I think it’s cool that they gather to ride together every week & find a place off the trail to eat at afterwards.”
